Registration for 19th Annual Julius De Loatche Basketball Camp, 2018, will open after January 1, 2018

The summer 2017 camp was a rousing success.

The Julius De Loatche Basketball Camp, Inc. extends sincere thanks and appreciation to all our friends and supporters for making our 18th annual session a grand success. The camp is held in memory of Julius De Loatche who died in a house fire March 3, 1999. Fifty-five boys and girls in grades 5-8 attended the six weekend camp held at the Dream Center, Peoria, IL, July and August, 2017.

18th Annual Award Banquet: More than 150 attendees enjoyed the evening and fellowship.

Veronica Ball, camp secretary and coach , delighted the crowd with her inspiring rendition of our National Anthem.

Fred Cole, a local soloist, excited the audience with a special performance.

Mrs. Diane Risby , the camp's banquet director, delivered a wonderful dinner again this year. The banquet hall was beautifully decorated by Mrs. Jackie Carter to especially highlight the occasion.

Maurice Russel, was the camp's most valuable player and received $100.00, O'Marion Stelivan, as second MVP, receiving $50.00, and Kenny Boclair was third MVP receiving 25.00. Merit awards of $20.00 each went to Jania Harris, Courtland Funches III, Ionna Martin and Quincy Maxwell.

We anxiously look forward to seeing everyone back in 2018.


During the 16th summer, in 2015, 68 campers, plus our outstanding cast of coaches, staff, family, and supporters, were featured in a July 25, 2015, Peoria Journal Star article written by Adam Duvall: "Area summer basketball camps tackle more than playing a game." The camp is held annually in memory of Julius De Loatche, who died in a house fire at age 10.
The Rev. James L. De Loatche and wife Relmer, Julius’s parents, are the founders of the camp.
Rev. De Loatche serves as Pres. & CEO. Eric Cameron is the camp’s director.
